Film Composers (and others) Sampling Classical Music

When I listen to music, I often make a connection to another piece. This is most evident when listening to Classical music, and noting the similarities found in the film music of the 20th and 21st centuries. This arena will serve as a compilation of connections. At one extreme, these represent what I would say are unapologetic rip-offs of Holst by John Williams. At the other, the connection is perhaps only in my head, or at most only subconsciously stolen by the musician.

John Williams

Catch Me if You Can from Catch Me if You Can

"stolen" from Ralph Vaughan Williams: Symphony No. 9 in Em, mvt. 3

Original                                   Replica

Max Richter

On The Nature Of Daylight from several films including Arrival and Shudder Island

"stolen" from Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet No. 15 in Am, mvt. 3 "Heiliger Dankgesang"

Original                                    Replica
